Looking for people who share common interests with you? in your community?

Time magazine calls it “a convenient, non-threatening way to connect to other people who share similar interests and live nearby.

With over 2 million members, over 12,000 groups, and over 4,600 topics which are growing daily, meetup.com creates an Internet service helping people find people with similar interests. It’s a powerful method for seniors within their local community to find other seniors who love knitting, reading, picture taking, walking and much much more.

If you do not see a meetup group in your area or for your interest, you can create one. Creating a meetup group is where the company makes money as its $19 for 1 month; or $45 for 3 months; or $72 for 6 months.

Once we launch our services in partnership with a bay area city, I’ll try the service with two groups. One for seniors interested in technology and the other for volunteers interested in assisting seniors with technology. It will be interesting to see which group becomes more popular over time.

In the meantime, if you need assistance with high technology and Internet usage let the technological handypeople assist you with selection, set-up and support. Helpdesk4Seniors is only non-profit focused on providing seniors with a free helpdesk service.
